Berry now No. 5 in latest AVCA top-25 poll

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 17, 2019) — After a 2-1 week against top-25 competition, the Berry volleyball team slipped one spot to No. 5 in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Top-25. 

The Vikings defeated Heidelberg, now the No. 25 team in the poll, 3-2 to open the Wittenberg Fall Classic last weekend. Berry then earned a straight-set victory over then No. 14 Wittenberg. Berry closed the weekend falling in five sets to Ohio Northern, now the No. 16 team in the poll.

Carson VanCampen earned All-Tournament recognition and Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Player of the Week honors. In 13 sets, she finished with 3.46 kills per set, hit .376 and averaged 1.15 blocks per set. 

Berry opens a stretch of six straight home matches tomorrow night at 6:30 p.m. as the team opens SAA play against Oglethorpe University. No other SAA program is ranked or receiving votes in the AVCA Top-25.
