ATLANTA (Sept. 6, 2019) - Southern Athletic Association (SAA) member and No. 9 ranked Berry will host No. 1 ranked Emory in the league's Game of the Week.
The Eagles will travel to Rome, Ga., for a 5:00 p.m. (EST), match, Saturday. This season, Emory (3-0) and the Vikings (3-0) are unbeaten. Overall, Berry and Emory have played 20 times. The Eagles lead the all-time series 19-1. However, the one Emory loss came last season when the Vikings hammered Emory, 3-1, inside the Cage Centre on October 9.
Berry is led by 2018 AVCA All-American and reigning SAA Offensive Player of the Week Carson VanCampen. Last week, the senior middle blocker led Berry to a win over nationally-ranked No. 11 Ithaca. For the week, VanCampen had 27 kills, hit .411, and scored 34 points.
She first finished with 12 kills and hit .357, with 17 points against Ithaca. She then posted 11 kills, hit .450, and scored 12.5 points for the Vikings against Wisconsin-La Crosse. Finally, she hit .500 against Ohio Wesleyan.
Emory's top offensive threat comes via senior Leah Saunders. Saunders was named the University Athletic Association Co-Hitter of the Week following her performance at the Emory Classic.
The Eagle outside hitter saw action in all 11 of the team's sets and averaged a team-high 3.82 kills per game. She also recorded a .359 attack percentages while averaging 2.73 digs per set. Her best performance this fall came against No. 8 Johnson and Wales where she posted a career-high 21 kills.
