Cox and Young named SAA Women's Lacrosse Players of the Week

ATLANTA (April 15, 2019) – The Southern Athletic Association (SAA) has announced that Jade Cox of Birmingham-Southern and Briann Young of Sewanee have been named the SAA Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week honorees.

Offense

Jade Cox - Birmingham-Southern

Cox scored 12 goals in two games last week, setting a new BSC single-season goal record of 76 goals for 2019. She led the Panthers with four goals in a loss to Reinhardt and followed up that performance with a season-high eight goals in a 25-21 win over conference foe Hendrix.

She also had 19 draw controls, 12 ground balls, and an assist in the two games. Cox is second in the SAA in goals scored this season.

Defense

Brianna Young - Sewanee

Young stopped 18 of 24 shots in the Tigers' 19-8 win over Centre. She finished with 18 saves for the game and allowed only six goals. Her 75 percent save percentage led all nominees.
