ATLANTA (March 11, 2019) – The Southern Athletic Association (SAA) has announced that Baylee Barker of Rhodes and Jade Cox of Birmingham-Southern have been named the SAA Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week honorees.
Baylee Barker - Rhodes
Barker scored three goals on four shots against Denison. The freshman then stepped up for the Lynx against Capital on Saturday. Trailing 6-1, Barker tallied three straight goals on her way to a five-goal first half. She tallied a three-assist, two-goal second half to help elevate the Lynx over Capital.
Overall, Barker led the game with 10 points (second highest value in Rhodes history), eight draw controls, seven goals, and four ground balls. On the week, she averaged five goals per game and a .737 shot on goal percentage.
Jade Cox - Birmingham-Southern
Typically an offensive force, Cox played a big role on the defensive end last week. She had two caused turnovers and four ground balls in a loss to Kenyon. Cox then had an even bigger game in an 18-3 win over Berry, forcing seven turnovers and picking up nine ground balls.
Along with her defense, Cox finished with 10 goals over two games.
