ATLANTA (April 9, 2018) – The Southern Athletic Association (SAA) has announced that Kendall Cunningham of Rhodes and Natalie Marek of Centre have been named the SAA Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week honorees.
Kendall Cunningham - Rhodes
Cunningham finished the week with 12 goals and one assist for Rhodes. The highlight of Sunday was her first goal against Oglethorpe. Cunningham received the ball from Aubrey Gray behind the cage, then dodged her defender with a quick spin before firing a laser to the upper right corner for her 300th career goal. She is just the seventh person among all NCAA players to reach the coveted 300 mark and is the first since the 2015 season.
Cunningham also had a monster game on the ride, as the attacker recorded a career-high seven caused turnovers and led the game with a career-high six ground balls.
Natalie Marek - Centre
Marek continued her strong work in goal for Centre. She finished with eight saves in the Colonels' victory over Sewanee, Sunday. Marek held the Tiger offense to just eight goals after they had entered the contest averaging nearly 15 goals per game.
