Ransom and Young named to the D3hoops.com All-Region Team

ATLANTA (March 12, 2019) – Southern Athletic Association (SAA) all-conference members Lauren Ransom of Oglethorpe and Allie Young of Rhodes have been named to the D3hoops.com All-Region Team.

Ransom was named to the first team while Young was honored as a third-team selection.

 

The Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Player of the Year, Ransom finished eighth in the South region in total blocks with 46 and came in 10th in blocks per game with 1.59. In addition, she finished second in the SAA in rebounding with 7.7 per game and came in fifth in made free throws with 85.

In addition to the SAA end-of-year accolades, Ransom earned SAA Player of the Week honors in each of the last two weeks of the regular season.

The SAA Tournament MVP and first team All-SAA honoree recorded five double-doubles this season. She consistently led the SAA in field goal percentage and was in the top five in points per game and rebounds per game throughout the season.

Young averaged 12.3 PPG in the SAA tournament and scored six of Rhodes' 11 overtime points to defeat No. 1-seeded and host Millsaps to advance to the tournament championship. She had four 20 plus point games this year, picking up a season-high 24 points twice this year against Augustana and Fontbonne. Young finished the year averaging 13 points per game, 7.4 rebounds per game and shot over 50 percent in the field. She concludes her with 991 points.

Young helped guide the Lynx back to the NCAA Division III Tournament, their first appearance in five years. Rhodes women's basketball ended their season with a 70-56 loss to No. 12-ranked Mary Hardin-Baylor. The Lynx went 17-12 on the season.
