Meade and Sharpe are named SAA Men's Track and Field Athletes of the Week

ATLANTA (April 17, 2019) - The Southern Athletic Association (SAA) has announced that Rodrigo Meade of Oglethorpe and Dalton Sharpe of Berry have been named the SAA Men's Track and Field Athletes of the Week.

Men's Track

Rodrigo Meade – Oglethorpe

Meade had a wonderful showing this past weekend at the Berry Field Day Invitational. He started on Friday by finishing second in the 1500 meters with an OU school record time of 4:00.97. Currently, he sits first in the SAA and ninth in the DIII S/SE Region in the 1,500 meters.

Meade returned on Saturday to finish third overall in the 800 meters with a time of 1:56.29. He currently is first in the SAA and 11th in the NCAA Division III South/Southeast Region for the 800 meters.

Men's Field

Dalton Sharpe – Berry

Sharpe won the javelin at the Berry Field Day Invitational with a throw of 49.50. That mark was a new PR by over six feet. He currently is ranked fifth in the SAA.

He also took second in the men's shot put with a throw of 13.05 meters. That was over two feet better than his previous PR.
