Centre wins 2018 SAA Championship by outlasting Oglethorpe in penalty kicks

ATLANTA (Nov. 4, 2018) – After two overtimes, the Centre men's soccer team won its first Southern Atheltic Association (SAA) Championship since 2016, as the Colonels outlasted host and No. 1 seed, Oglethorpe 5-3 in penalty kicks, Sunday.

Centre earned the league's automatic bid into the 2018 NCAA Tournament while avenging a loss to the Stormy Petrels a season ago.

Sophomore defender Michael Vogt proved to be the final difference. Vogt's try dramatically escaped the grasp of Oglethorpe keeper Scott Zoino, and trickled over the goal line to seal the shootout.
