Bloomington, Ill. (May 8, 2019) - What started as a battle of the goalies turned into a 6-1 lead for the Rhodes men's lacrosse team in the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament. Rhodes would go on to defeat host Illinois Wesleyan, 22-9, to advance the NCAA Sweet 16.
The Lynx advance to the third round for the second year in-a-row with a 16-3 record.
Rhodes outscored Illinois Wesleyan 4-1 in the opening 15 minutes. The Lynx then added eight goals in the second before completely taking control of the match after halftime. In the final 30 minutes, Rhodes outscored IWC 10-2.
Chrisitan Cisneros led Rhodes with five goals while Addison Mueller added three goals as did David Perez.
With the win, Rhodes will now play the winner of No. 9 Denison and Concordia University Wisconsin on Saturday, May 11.
