No. 3 Gettysburg ends NCAA Men's Lacrosse Tournament run by Rhodes in Sweet 16

Gettysburg, Pa. (May 12, 2018) - After a relatively even start, the No. 3-ranked Gettysburg Bullets defeated the Rhodes men's lacrosse team 22-9 in the third round of the 2018 NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Tournament.

Gettysburg got the scoring started almost 30 seconds into the game. Rhodes answered back when Steven Yowan assisted Matt Perez for the Lynx's first goal. Senior Justin Powers lasered a bouncer along the ground to give Rhodes a 2-1 advantage with 10:31 to play in their first. That would be the only lead Rhodes held in the contest. The Bullets responded to tie the game after a wrap-around by Jack Fletcher for his second goal of the game.

The Lynx defense effectively stopped a Bullets' fast break situation before the host settled and scored three more goals to take a 6-2 lead heading into the second quarter.
Senior Ryan Fennelly ended Rhodes's scoring drought with a wrap-around goal. That cut the Gettysburg lead to 10-3 with under six minutes left in the first half. The Bullets would eventually lead 13-3 at halftime.

Gettysburg only held a 9-6 scoring advantage during the second half of the game. Tyler Milwit scored in a man-up situation two minutes into the third quarter. He also netted Rhodes's next two goals, tallying all three marks in the period. The Bullets opened the final quarter with five straight goals before the Lynx secured the final three goals of the game from Powers, Addison Mueller and Ryan Marasco.

Rhodes finish their 2018 campaign with a 14-3 overall record, tying the program-high for wins in a season.
