ATLANTA (March 19, 2018) – The Southern Athletic Association (SAA) has announced that Peyton Taylor (Offense) of Birmingham-Southern and Kevin Murphy (Defense) of Berry have been named the SAA Men's Lacrosse Player of the Week honorees.
Peyton Taylor - Birmingham-Southern
Taylor was BSC's leading scorer in two conference matches against Sewanee and Centre. In Thursday's tight 12-10 loss to Sewanee, Taylor had a game-high four goals. He then posted a game-high five goals in the Panthers' big 14-7 win over the Colonels.
Kevin Murphy - Berry
Murphy allowed just eight goals in three games, recording 17 saves, as he led the Berry to a 2-1 week. Murphy earned his first win of the week in goal against Concordia on Tuesday. He recorded six saves and allowed just one goal in his 25:04 minutes of work. Murphy then added an additional six saves against Rhodes on Friday, allowing just five goals in the outing. He rounded out the week collecting five saves in his 43:48 minutes of work against Hendrix on Sunday.
Murphy finished the week with 17 saves in 98:52 minutes of work, boasting a 4.86 goals-against average, as well as a 68.0 save percentage.
