Smith of Sewanee nets second SAA Men's Basketball Player of the Week honor

ATLANTA (Dec. 31, 2018) – The Southern Athletic Association (SAA) has announced that Luke Smith of Sewanee has been named the SAA Men's Basketball Player of the Week.

Smith led the Tigers to a 2-0 record while averaging 19.5 points per game at the Comfort Inn and Suites Holiday Classic. The Tournament MVP went 11-for-21 (52.4) overall for the floor, which included a 5-for-12 effort from beyond the three-point line. In Sewanee's close win over Bridgewater, Smith sparked the comeback with a three with 9:42 left in regulation. That sparked a 12-2 Tiger run. In that game, Smith finished with 17 points, seven rebounds, and four assists.

The next day, Smith led Sewanee to a win over Ozarks after he scored over 20 points for the sixth time this season. Smith finished with a 22-point performance on 6-of-12 shooting. 

Overall, the sophomore leads all SAA student-athletes with an avenge of 20.4 points per game.
