ATLANTA (Oct. 29, 2018) – The Southern Athletic Association (SAA) has announced that Hailey Mules (Rhodes) and Caroline Sugar (Sewanee) have been named SAA Field Hockey Players of the Week.
Offense - Hailey Mules - Junior Forward - Rhodes
Mules recorded a point in five of Rhodes's seven goals in their 7-1 victory over Hendrix. The junior scored two goals and tallied three assists to break the Rhodes single-season assist record. She also now holds the program's single-season points record. She scored the first goal in the first 1:15 of the game and assisted the game-winner five minutes later. In the second half, Mules scored one goal and added two assists.
Defense - Caroline Sugar - Freshman Midfielder - Sewanee
Sugar was a huge presence for the Sewanee defense, getting possessions from CUW out of the circle and into transition for the offense. Additionally, she held the Falcons' leading scorer Megan McPike to one shot and no points. Thanks to the defense of Sugar, McPike was held to no points in a conference game for the first time this season and the fourth time overall.
