Collins, Evans, and Byrd earn SAA Football Player of the Week honors

ATLANTA (Sept. 23, 2019) – The Southern Athletic Association (SAA) has announced that Colt Collins (Austin), Reid Evans (Millsaps), and Andrew Byrd (Millsaps) have been named SAA Football Player of the Week winners.

Offense - Colt Collins - Senior Quarterback - Austin

Collins had a big weekend for Austin as the 'Roos knocked off No. 19 Centre. Collins broke a 59-year-old program record for most yards of total offense in a career. In that process, Collins threw for 156 yards and two touchdowns and added 139 rushing yards and another score. Most importantly, Collins and delivered what would prove to be the game-winning touchdown on a 4th-and-4 situation in the fourth quarter.

Defense - Reid Evans - Senior Linebacker - Millsaps

Evans led the Majors with a game-high 12 total tackles in Saturday's 14-0 win over Rhodes. That included seven solo stops, three tackles for loss, and a sack.

Special Teams - Andrew Byrd - Junior Kicker/Punter - Millsaps

Byrd punted 12 times in Saturday's 14-0 SAA win over Rhodes. He helped the Majors dominate the field position game in the second half. Five of Byrd's punt were downed inside the 20-yard line. He also had two punts go over 50 yards. Overall, he forced seven returns by Rhodes to be fair caught. He also averaged 38.4 yards per kick and had a long punt of 56 yards.
