WACO, Texas (Oct. 9, 2018) — After a 44-3 win over the Sewanee Tigers last Saturday, the Berry College football team climbed to No. 12 in the latest American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Top 25. The ranking marks the highest in program history in the AFCA poll. | FULL RANKINGS
Berry is also ranked No. 14 in the D3football.com poll. Both are the best-ever in league history.
The Vikings now sit at 6-0 overall and 4-0 in the Southern Athletic Association (SAA), remaining in first place in the league. The win pushed Berry's winning streak to 21-straight regular-season contests and 14-straight games at Valhalla Stadium.
In the second blowout in as many weeks, Berry held the Tigers to a program-record 90-yards of total offense. The defensive effort was helped by seven sacks, the second-most for a single-game in program history. The game took place on Berry College's Mountain Day, drawing a record-setting crowd of 4,611.
Prior to the Tigers' field goal in the third quarter, Berry had gone on a 116-0 scoring run at Valhalla Stadium. On the year, the Vikings are outscoring opponents 143-6 at home.
Offensively, quarterback Tate Adcock and wide receiver Mason Kinsey continued to light up the stat sheet. Adcock leads the SAA and is top-10 in NCAA Division III with 18 touchdown passes, just two short of tying the single-season program record. Kinsey is now the national leader in touchdown catches at 13 in any NCAA division. He is just four receiving scores short of typing his own single-season record of 17.
Berry will travel to Hendrix College in Conway, Ark., this Saturday. Kickoff is set for 2:00 p.m. EST.
