Sports Illustrated Magazine Recognizes Rhodes-Sewanee Football Rivalry

Two members of the Southern Athletic Association received some surprising press this past week as Sports Illustrated magazine recognized the 113 year history of the Rhodes-Sewanee football rivalry.

Rolling out its popular yearly college football preview, the weekly sports magazine highlighted several intriguing football rivalries in the centerfold, including the annual clash between the Lynx and the Tigers.

With the layout design intended to look like a menu of offerings at a restaurant, Sports Illustrated noted the Rhodes-Sewanee tilt "the longest consecutively played football game below the Mason-Dixon (since 1899) has the manners and traditions of the South without the excesses of big-time conferences."

The Lynx and Tigers are set to square off yet again, this year at Sewanee on October 27 at 2:30 p.m.
