No. 15 Birmingham-Southern advances to College World Series pool final with walk-off win in extra innings

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (June 2, 2019) – The drama of the 2019 NCAA Division III College World Series continued late Saturday night, as Birmingham-Southern (41-13) rallied for a 4-3, 10-inning walk-off victory over Johns Hopkins University (Md.).

Rich Masischia scampered home with the winner on a close play at the plate following a hard grounder to shortstop.  Chris Festa's first-inning home run was a Division III-leading 82nd for Johns Hopkins (36-12), which carried a 3-1 lead into the sixth inning. Cole Steadman doubled and scored the tying run for the Panthers in the eighth inning. Alfredo Granier also had three hits for BSC.

Birmingham-Southern awaits the between Babson and JHU Sunday at 7.45 p.m.

The Panthers and the University of Massachusetts-Boston are the only two teams that remain unbeaten.
