No. 15 Birmingham-Southern advances to the NCAA Super Regionals with win over No. 14 LaGrange

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (May 19, 2019) - Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Champion No. 15 ranked Birmingham-Southern advanced to the NCAA Tournament Super Regionals after defeating No. 14 LaGrange, 14-6, in the Regional Final, Sunday, at Striplin Field.

The Panthers, who are now 37-13 overall, earned the best of five series against the USA South Champions, three games to two. 

BSC will now await the winner of Coe and No. 3 Washington University in St. Louis in the best of three Super Regional next weekend. The winner of that series will earn a trip to the NCAA Division III College World Series.

The Panthers jumped on LaGrange early as BSC led 7-0 after three innings. After LaGrange scored a run in the bottom of the fifth, BSC answered back with a run in the top of the sixth. With the score in favor of the Gold and Black at 8-6, BSC opened the game open in the top of the ninth with six runs on five hits.

From there, LaGrange went up and down in the bottom of the ninth.
