ATLANTA (April 9, 2018) – The Southern Athletic Association (SAA) has announced that Jacob Delk of Berry and Drew Mancuso of Sewanee have been named the SAA Baseball Pitcher and Player of the Week honorees.
Jacob Delk - Berry
Hitting .429 on the week, while driving in eight runs and finishing with a walk-off single against the Lynx, Delk led the Berry to a key 3-0 series sweep against top-ranked Rhodes. He started the week 2-for-4 with two runs scored in the Vikings' game one matchup against Piedmont, Tuesday. He then added an additional three hits and four RBIs in Berry's nightcap contest against the Lions.
Delk then ignited the Viking offense at the plate in game two of the series against Rhodes. He singled up the middle in the bottom of the ninth inning to bring home two Vikings and ensure the 3-2 walk-off win for Berry. Delk then finished the week with a 3-for-4 performance, three runs, and two RBI against Rhodes, Sunday.
Delk finished the week with a .476 slugging percentage, knocking in eight runs and scoring five times.
Drew Mancuso - Sewanee
Mancuso tossed a complete game shutout in Sewanee's 1-0 victory over Millsaps, Saturday. The senior allowed just four hits and a walk while fanning nine batters. In his last two starts, Mancuso has allowed just one run in 18 innings, striking out 15.
