Walch and Tucker earn SAA Baseball Player of the Week awards

ATLANTA (April 2, 2018) – The Southern Athletic Association (SAA) has announced that Zack Walch of Berry and Seth Tucker of Hendrix have been named the SAA Baseball Pitcher and Player of the Week honorees.

Zack Walch - Berry

Hitting .533 on the week with six runs scored, Walch ignited the Berry offense from the top of the order to lead the Vikings to a 3-1 week of play. That including a conference sweep over Centre. Walch started the week with a single and a walk in Berry's 4-1 loss to Maryville (Tenn.) on Tuesday, before batting 2-for-4 with two runs scored and a stolen base in the Vikings' 11-3 victory over Centre.

Walch remained hot at the plate for Berry, hitting 4-for-6 against the Colonels on Saturday, scoring three runs and adding an RBI and two stolen bases in the win. He then rounded out the week 1-for-2 with a run scored in the Vikings' 2-1 pitching duel victory over Centre.

On the week, Walch hit 8-for-15 at the plate, finishing the week with six runs scored, three stolen bases, one double, and a .611 on-base percentage.

Pitcher

Seth Tucker - Hendrix

In his lone start, Tucker was outstanding. In a 3-0 win, Tucker pitched a shutout going 8.0 innings and allowing no runs and only five hits. He also struck out five.
