ATLANTA (April 2, 2018) – The Southern Athletic Association (SAA) has announced that Natalie Daniel of BSC and Natalie Marek of Centre have been named the SAA Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week honorees.
Natalie Daniel - Birmingham-Southern
Daniel was a force for the Panthers on offense this past week, scoring 10 goals in two wins over Kalamazoo and conference foe Hendrix. She had six goals and an assist in the 16-11 win over Kalamazoo, winning eight draw controls and scooping up five ground balls.
She tacked on four more goals and an assist in a 22-16 win over the Warriors on Saturday. She had another seven draw controls and grabbed six more groundballs.
Natalie Marek - Centre
Against Wittenberg, Marek saved 11 of 16 shots and became the all-time saves leader for the Colonels in a 17-5 win. Marek made more history on Saturday against Division II Charleston. She picked up 12 more saves in a 16-6 Centre victory, giving the Colonels their 11th consecutive win.
For the week, Marek finished 5.50 goals against average and saved 67.6 percent of her opponent's shots.
