LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Berry College softball team will open the season ranked No. 6 in the nation in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Preseason poll, higher than any other Southern Athletic Association (SAA) rival.
The Vikings will return all starters for the 2017 season after winning their second consecutive SAA tournament title and fourth straight regular season crown. Berry posted a program-best 38-8 overall record and a 16-2 SAA mark.
Berry's roster will be stacked with talent this year, including standout pitcher Kassie Howard who was named the SAA Player-of-the-Year and an NFCA All-American a season ago. She is joined by All-Conference nods Brittany Ferrell, Sarah Moore, Brittany Tuttle, Elisabeth Federici, Marie Collop and Kenzie Fleming.
The season will begin on Saturday, Feb. 11 as the Vikings travel to Huntingdon for a doubleheader.
